Nigel Grimes

I have always felt an affinity with nature and trees in particular and have been drawn to woodlands throughout my life. I have been lucky enough to grow up and live most of my life in Kingston Upon Thames next to Richmond Park, with plenty of visits to other wooded areas such as Bushy Park, Home Park, Wimbledon Common and the Surrey Hills. On holiday, I have always preferred destinations with forests, such as Austria and Canada to beaches and cities. And I have walked in my local woods and in Richmond Park almost daily for the last 25 years with my various dogs. I first encountered Forest Bathing when my wife booked us a session as an anniversary present at Kew Gardens. I was immediately hooked and decided to qualify as a guide with The Forest Bathing Institute to further expand my wellbeing portfolio.

As well as Forest Bathing, I am a Breathing practitioner, through my website The Breathing Studio. I am also an International Coaching Federation qualified Life Coach, NLP Practitioner and Meditation and Mindfulness coach and help people with their anxieties, fears and inability to move forward - see Nigel Grimes Wellbeing. I work with individuals, private groups, corporate companies, charities, and educational establishments.

Previous to becoming involved in the world of wellbeing, I worked in marketing, reaching senior positions in large companies including BT, AirMiles and Centrica. I enjoyed the corporate world for a while, but after experiencing a period of unexplained ill health and overcoming it through various alternative therapies, I decided to retrain to help others. I originally trained back in 2012 and increased my levels of qualification in Buteyko breathing in 2020 and have been using it, and other breathing techniques, in my private clinics ever since. I am also qualified in Meditation and Mindfulness with the Mind Detox Academy and The Institute of Forest Bathing.

I am now delighted to be able to offer the benefits of Forest Bathing.

“’Thank you for introducing me to the world of forest bathing. Through yoga I'm very aware of my breath and different breathing techniques and how breath affects our system - the yoga postures assist the opening and awareness of our internal body movement - but being out in nature and experiencing the breath with different smells, lights, sounds and colours around you offers another level - freedom - which is very different if you practise yoga in overcrowded studios” - Conny
